Perhaps there will come a time when Carson Wentz wants to talk about having to watch the Philadelphia Eagles win their first Super Bowl.

For the man expected to be the next franchise quarterback for the Eagles Shareef Miller Jersey , it wasn’t going to be the moments after Nick Foles led a 41-33 win over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots on Sunday night.

Wentz said he just wanted to celebrate with the Super Bowl MVP and the rest of his teammates, which he did. He shared quiet conversation in the locker room with owner Jeffrey Lurie before tight end Brent Celek grabbed him by the shoulders and said, ”Brothers for life.”

A few minutes later, Wentz, Foles and Nate Sudfeld, the backup since Wentz’s season-ending knee injury in Week 14, huddled near their lockers and bolted out a door, headed to an area off-limits to reporters.

Wentz didn’t flat-out say no when asked if he wanted to talk, and got a little testy when a reporter tried to find out what ”soon” meant. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 draft smiled a lot, too, as he wandered the locker room.

”You just know it’s tough when you talk to him sometimes Zach Brown Jersey ,” receiver Torrey Smith said. ”It would be tough for me. He would have been the MVP of the league if he didn’t get hurt. You know that’s tough.”

Wentz, who walked gingerly and didn’t step into throws while making tosses alongside Foles during warmups, tore two ligaments in his left knee in a win over the Los Angeles Rams in December.

Foles and the Philadelphia offense were up and down through three regular-season games and the playoff opener, a 15-10 win over Atlanta.

But in his final two postseason games, Foles threw for 725 yards and six touchdowns, three in each game. He even caught a scoring pass in the Super Bowl.

After the Eagles fell behind for the first time in the fourth quarter against the Patriots, Foles guided 14-play, 75-yard drive to what ended up being the winning score – an 11-yard touchdown pass to tight end Zach Ertz.

When Brady’s desperation pass hit the ground in the end zone on the final play, Wentz stormed the field alongside everyone else. And that sideline had some other key players in street clothes – two-time All-Pro left tackle Jason Peters and speedy running back Darren Sproles.

Oh, and Wentz held the Lombardi Trophy over his head during the celebration.

”When he went down, the foundation had been laid so strong that we weren’t usually swayed by anything Devin Bush Jersey ,” Ertz said. ”We lost so many guys through this journey. Carson just gave us confidence every time we stepped on the field at the beginning of the season.”

Coach Doug Pederson lauded Wentz for staying engaged with his teammates after the injury. He was leading the NFL with 33 touchdown passes when he got hurt and finished just one behind league leader Russell Wilson of Seattle.

”He was in there in the mornings studying the tape with the quarterbacks like he always does,” Pederson said. ”And then he’d come to practice and just watch. Any advice that he had for Nick he would give it. If he felt like it wasn’t necessary, he wouldn’t give it. Just a great resource for Nick.”

Wentz says he plans to be ready for the regular season in September. If not, Foles is under contract for another season, and the Eagles could get offers from teams looking for a starter after what the sixth-year pro did in the playoffs.

”I’m not going to say it’s bittersweet,” Smith said. ”But you know as a competitor you want to be on the field. I know he’s genuinely happy for Foles and this team. And I know more so than anything this is motivation for him to come back stronger than ever and to help lead this team back to this position.”

From time to time during the offseason, the Eagles will also get the question some just can’t resist asking after a backup becomes a Super Bowl MVP. Who’s the starter?

”Man, here you go,” receiver Alshon Jeffery said. ”Shut you off, man. You know who is throwing the ball. Carson, of course.”

As far as talking http://www.steelerscheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-diontae-johnson-jersey , though, Wentz deferred to Foles on this night.

The Colorado Rockies have been getting contributions from the top to the bottom of their lineup.

Especially the bottom.

The Rockies got three RBIs from their No. 9 hitter for the second consecutive day, beating the host Seattle Mariners 5-1 on Saturday to extend their winning streak to five games.

They’ll go for the sweep Sunday afternoon at Safeco Field, where right-hander Antonio Senzatela (3-1, 4.44 ERA) takes on Seattle left-hander Wade LeBlanc (4-0, 3.19).

On Friday, catcher Tony Wolters had two triples and three RBIs from the ninth spot as the Rockies won 7-1. On Saturday, rookie right fielder Noel Cuevas had three hits, including a tiebreaking three-run homer in the seventh inning off Mariners ace James Paxton.

“That’s what happens when you go on a little run of wins. The contributions are coming from multiple guys, whether it’s bench players or the guy getting the start. … You’re going to get tired of hearing me say that it’s going to take 25 guys, but it’s truly the case Justin Layne Jersey ,” Rockies manager Bud Black said. “We can’t just rely on our main guys. This team is in a good spot. I like how we are kind of coming together with this group and we have to continue.”

The top three batters in the Rockies’ order — DJ LeMahieu, Charlie Blackmon and Nolan Arenado — combined to go 0-for-14 with seven strikeouts on Saturday. But the bottom three — Pat Valaika, Gerardo Parra and Cuevas — had seven of the team’s 10 hits.

“It’s a team sport; definitely today was the example,” Cuevas said. “The top of the order didn’t have the day that it wanted. We were able to get out with a ‘W,’ because the bottom of the order did their job.”

Cuevas’ homer, the second of his career, came one pitch after he failed to get down a squeeze bunt.

“I wasn’t happy at that moment that I missed it (the bunt) — we were trying to get that run in,” Cuevas said. “But after that, it was short memory. I missed it. So what? Next pitch, I can’t remember that I just missed the bunt. I need to be ready for that pitch. That was it.”

Right-hander German Marquez and left-hander Kyle Freeland gave up one solo home run apiece in the first two games of the series. Freeland was gone by the time Cuevas homered Saturday, making a winner of reliever Scott Oberg.

“The bullpen is doing a nice job http://www.steelerscheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-benny-snell-jr.-jersey , but it starts with starting pitching, keeping us in games and doing their job,” Black said. “We will be at it (Sunday) and hopefully Antonio (Senzatela) can do what the crew has done over the last 10 days.”

Mariners right fielder Mitch Haniger returned to the lineup Saturday after missing two games with a sprained right knee, but second baseman Dee Gordon was limited to pinch-hitting duties after tweaking his hip Friday night. And catcher Mike Zunino is on the 10-day disabled list with a bruised left ankle.

“We’re a little banged up right now,” said Mariners manager Scott Servais, whose team had won nine of 10 games entering the series. “It happens. It’s part of what you go through in a long season like this.”

Senzatela faced the Mariners once as a rookie last season, a 5-0 loss at Safeco Field. He went five innings and allowed four runs, five hits and two walks with seven strikeouts.

LeBlanc is 2-3 with a 6.53 ERA in nine career appearances (seven starts) against the Rockies.

Michael Conforto showed signs of ending a prolonged slump http://www.seahawksauthorizedshops.com/authentic-marquise-blair-jersey , and the New York Mets got some much-needed offense for a rare win Saturday night.

Conforto homered for the second time in three games and drove in a career high four runs, Steven Matz pitched effectively into the seventh inning and the Mets beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-1.

Conforto lined a three-run homer in the second inning, and that was all the support Matz needed against one of baseball’s hottest teams. Matz (3-4) allowed a run, six hits and a walk with three strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings.

”Trying to stay behind it a little bit, that’s the best way I can explain it,” said Conforto, who was 2 for 29 over his last nine games. ”It’s something that I’ve been through before.”

The Mets ended a four-game losing streak and have won just two of their last 14 games. The Diamondbacks lost for just the second time in nine games.

”Doing some things that we’d been talking about as far as basic baseball I think is big for us,” Conforto said. ”We know we’re better players than the product has been.”

New York made it 4-0 in the third when Amed Rosario led off with a double and scored on starter Patrick Corbin’s wild pitch. The Mets had scored three or fewer runs in 11 straight games.

Corbin got into another jam in the sixth but got some help from center fielder Chris Owings Max Scharping Jersey , who threw out Brandon Nimmo trying to score from second base on a shallow single. With two outs in the inning, Conforto doubled into the right-field corner to drive in another run.

”You give up three quick runs the way Matz was throwing, it was a little too much for us to play some catch-up,” Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said.

Corbin (6-3) surrendered five runs and eight hits in six innings with seven strikeouts.

”Take a way a couple of pitches there, I think it could have been decent,” Corbin said. ”They just did a good job, made it tough. I got the pitch count up there a little bit and they made me work.”

The Diamondbacks made it 5-1 in the sixth with Nick Ahmed’s double and Paul Goldschmidt’s RBI groundout.

Arizona loaded the bases in the seventh against Matz and reliever Robert Gsellman, who rode onto the field in the Diamondbacks’ new bullpen cart. Gsellman got Ahmed to ground into an inning-ending fielder’s choice.

”Honestly http://www.thetexansfootballauthentic.com/kahale-warring-jersey-authentic , after the second inning it all clicked for me and I started feeling really good out there,” Matz said.

The Mets’ Anthony Swarzak struck out the side in the ninth to end it.

GREET THE METS

Most of the right field seats at Chase Field on Saturday night were taken up by hundreds of chanting Mets fans in blue shirts representing a group called the Seven Line Army. It bills itself on Twitter as ”the largest traveling supporter section in baseball history.”

The group went crazy as Conforto’s home run sailed into its area, and roared again when Conforto took his position in center field and waved before the start of the bottom of the second.

The fans serenaded Mets pinch hitter Jose Reyes with a soccer-style cheer in the ninth while he was at bat.

TRAINER’S ROOM

Mets: Reliever Jeurys Familia is with the team in Arizona and is eligible to come off the disabled list Sunday. He’s been out with a sore right shoulder since June 7. Mets manager Mickey Callaway said he ”wouldn’t be afraid” to go to Familia in the eighth or ninth inning right away. … OF Jay Bruce is expected to be in Sunday’s lineup after missing the past three games with a sore back. … RHP Noah Syndergaard (right index finger) is moving closer to starting a throwing program.

Diamondbacks: RHP Shelby Miller (Tommy John surgery rehab) made a strong start for Class A Visalia on Saturday night, allowing three hits in 6 2/3 innings with 10 strikeouts. … LHP Robbie Ray (oblique) will throw up to 70 pitches Tuesday for Triple-A Reno. … RHP Randall Delgado (oblique) is set for one inning of work for Reno on Sunday.

UP NEXT

Mets: RHP Zack Wheeler (2-5) is set for his fourth career start at Chase Field. He has 1.93 ERA in three previous starts.

Diamondbacks: RHP Clay Buchholz (1-1) faces the Mets. He has allowed two runs or fewer in four of his five starts this season.

While the analysis of any NFL offense always has to begin with the quarterback, many times they are only as good as their skill players will allow. It's paramount for a quarterback to have weapons, and that's particularly true for wide receivers. Often times, just the connection between these two positions can make-or-break an entire offense, and be the difference between success and failure. That may not always be the case Cullen Gillaspia Jersey , but we've certainly seen our share of great QB/WR duos in the past, and how much of an asset it was to their respective teams. In a league that's only been trending more pass-heavy in recent years, the effect of it has only been heightened. Now it seems like every team in the league is trying to groom an elite QB/WR combination that can be effective for many years. Not every team gets it right. It can be difficult to find that perfect passing combination, and keep it for the long-term. But for the teams that do, it's undeniably a huge advantage to their offense. Let's take a look at which ones are succeeding and failing in the league right now.Ranked below are the 8 best and 7 worst QB/WR duos currently in the NFL.

"Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it."George Santayana’s immortal words apply across the spectrum of life. But in football this year Josh Oliver Jersey , those who ignore the past are doomed to watch Seattle repeat. In the past decade, each Super Bowl Champion has not only failed to replicate their prior glory, they haven’t even made it to the conference championship. In fact, over the past 25 years, only three teams have won consecutive championships: Dallas, Denver and New England. Seattle is poised to join that elite group (and they won’t need Spygate-esque tactics to accomplish it).Doug Baldwin was recently asked about this year’s Seahawks versus last year’s team. He answered that, “It’s a very different team http://www.jaguarscheapshop.com/cheap-authentic-quincy-williams-ii-jersey , but a similar style. But the feeling that we had last year, it’s coming back, in terms of the energy on the field, the enthusiasm, and just having fun playing football.” Many Seattle fans share that feeling; it just feels right this year… again. At the start of this season, CenturyLink had caused more false start penalties than any other stadium since 2005. No one is going in there and coming out with a victory. The AFC is filled with pretenders. The Cowboys were the only victorious road team in Seattle and Green Bay just isn’t the same team outside of Lambeau (not to mention the recent injury to Aaron Rodgers). There are a few roadblocks along Seattle’s paths, but no brick walls. Even if there were Ryquell Armstead Jersey , the Legion of Boom would simply smash through them. With the 2016 NFL Draft fast approaching, what better time of the year to talk about draft busts? Inevitably, every football season produces the downfall of some young players that were at one time predicted to be productive assets to a given team. It is an established part of the game today, and further confirms how difficult it is to play football professionally, backing up the cut-throat nature of the league.Of course, young players fail in the NFL for different reasons. It could be a poor scheme fit, lack of adjustments made for the pro game http://www.jaguarscheapshop.com/cheap-authentic-gardner-minshew-ii-jersey , or issues with substance abuse. While the NFL is technically just one step up from the division one college ranks, it is a world that is wholly different in both on-field and off-field expectations. Not every personality in the college game is cut out for a professional career in the sport, and sometimes that is for the better. Regardless, it usually spells a short career for the player in question, leaving many fans wondering, "what if?"The players listed here do not exactly indicate a revelation in the analytical process. Most of them are fairly obvious in their lack of production, especially since they were at one time big-name prospects that seemed destined for a Pro Bowl-caliber career in the NFL. Still Marquise Brown Jersey , that doesn't make their struggles any less noteworthy. Some of them were selected while the team was passing up prospects that ended up performing at a Hall Of Fame level. Talk about buyer's remorse. I'm sure if these teams could have had their picks back today, that none of these selections would have remained the same.Ranked below are the top 20 young NFL players that already look like busts.

DENVER — Antonio Senzatela will join the Colorado Rockies rotation Tuesday Christian Wilkins Jersey , returning to the majors after two months at Triple-A and making his first start in the big leagues since Aug. 28.

Senzatela will take the turn of Jon Gray, whom the Rockies optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque last Wednesday. A member of Colorado’s Opening Day roster, Senzatela began the season as a long reliever and went 2-1 with a 6.23 ERA in 10 appearances.

The Rockies optioned Senzatela, 23, to Albuquerque on May 4. They wanted to have him build up arm strength to again start, feeling his ultimate value was in that role rather than in the bullpen.

Chris Stratton (8-5, 4.45) will oppose Senzatela as the Giants look to even the three-game series after losing 5-2 on Monday.

Senzatela went 3-1, 2.15 in eight starts at Albuquerque with 12 walks, 42 strikeouts and one home run allowed in 37 2/3 innings. He was forced out of a June 6 start in the first inning due to a right groin strain and didn’t start again until June 23 when he threw 74 pitches in 3 1/3 innings and allowed two runs (one earned). Senzatela threw a season-high 90 pitches Wednesday against Sacramento and allowed three hits in 7 2/3 scoreless innings.

Despite having never pitched at the Triple-A level, Senzatela was part of Colorado’s Opening Day rotation in 2017 and was the National League Rookie of the Month for April when he went 3-1, 2.81 in five starts.

He ended the season 10-5 http://www.thedolphinsfootballauthentic.com/michael-deiter-jersey-authentic , 4.68 in 36 games (20 starts), and Rockies manager Bud Black said that experience should benefit Senzatela, whom the Rockies moved to the bullpen last year when he began to wear down and to monitor his innings. After pitching just 34 2/3 innings at Double-A in 2016, Senzatela threw 134 2/3 innings for the Rockies last season.

“He’s a year older,” Black said. “He’s throwing the ball well. He was our best pitcher the first two months last year, so he’s done it before. Last year, he just ran out of gas.

“I’m excited about Senza. We’ve seen Senza on this stage before in the big leagues and perform and pitch well. And he’s coming off a pretty good stretch of games in Albuquerque, especially his last one. He was nicked up a little bit with a leg problem, but he’s over that. You look at the collective numbers of what he did in Albuquerque, it’s good pitching.”

Senzatela is 3-0, 4.24 in five games (three starts) against the Giants and 9-3 http://www.cardinalsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-zach-allen-jersey , 5.28 in 23 games (11 starts) at Coors Field.

The Giants are 11-6 in games started by Stratton, who was not involved in the decision Wednesday at San Francisco when he faced the Rockies and gave up eight hits and five runs in four innings in San Francisco’s 9-8 loss.

Stratton is 1-0, 6.19 in four games (three starts) against the Rockies. In two starts against them this season, he is 1-0, 8.00. At Coors Field, Stratton is 0-0 3.86 in two games (one start).

Stratton, 27, made seven relief appearances for the Giants in 2016 and last year went 4-4, 3.68 in 13 games (10 starts) for them.

“Strat came up last year and was really impressive with his overall stuff and his command of it,” Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. “Got off to a great start this year. He’s had a couple hiccups; he did (his) last start. But he handles everything well. Four-pitch guy.”

Stratton has had to assume more responsibility this season as Giants starters Madison Bumgarner, Johnny Cueto and Jeff Samardzija were sidelined with injuries — the latter two are still out. Dereck Rodriguez Gary Jennings Jr. Jersey , Andrew Suarez and Derek Holland have stepped in and helped stabilize the rotation behind Stratton.

“You see he has a sense of belonging up here,” Bochy said. “He was kind of our guy. Now the rest of the guys have picked up their pitching. But Strat with Bum down, Cueto down, Samardzija down, he became like the guy. He was the one leading the staff.”

Justin Verlander’s worst start with the Houston Astros might have been OK if not for Wilson Ramos.

Ramos drove in four runs in the first two innings against Verlander and the Tampa Bay Rays went on to a 5-2 win over the Astros on Saturday.

”I wasn’t sharp, but also I didn’t have luck on my side,” Verlander said. ”I made an adjustment during the third inning that I thought was good, but it was too little too late.”

Verlander (9-4) gave up the most runs (5) and hits (9) of any of his 23 starts since his trade to Houston late last summer. He struck out eight in a season-low five innings after coming in with a major league-leading 1.82 ERA – though it was 4.34 in six June starts. The Astros have lost his last three starts.

Matt Duffy finished with three hits, including two in the first two innings, to help the Rays win for the seventh time in eight tames to move to .500 (41-41) for the first time since June 1.

”I gave up three hard-hit balls, all to the same guy. The rest of `em Phil Haynes Jersey , nobody hit the ball hard,” Verlander said.

Ramos got the Rays on the scoreboard with a two-run double in the first, and made it 5-0 with a two-run single in the second. Those two at bats summarized Verlander’s day.

”The first at bat, I put him in a 3-1 situation where, bases loaded, he knows a heater’s coming, and he hit it off the wall. So that’s my fault,” Verlander said. ”His next bat I got a ground ball up the middle on a slider, which is kind of what you’re looking for. But it found a hole.”

Tampa Bay has held opponents to two runs or fewer in five straight games for only the second time in franchise history.

”The way these guys are throwing right now, we’re tough to beat,” said Kevin Kiermaier Ugo Amadi Jersey , who scored in each of the first two innings.

Alex Bregman got the Astros on the board with a two-run homer in the sixth off Vidal Nuno. It was Bregman’s 16th home run and his fifth in six games.

”They’ve been throwing the ball well over there, and we haven’t really been able to put anything together,” Bregman said. ”Verlander was a little unfortunate today with some of the weak contact that went for hits, but we’ve got to do a better job of putting up runs for him.

Nuno (2-0) got the win after pitching 4 2/3 innings of relief, giving up two runs and four hits while striking out four. Sergio Romo pitched ninth for his seventh save in 11 opportunities.

Ryne Stanek pitched the first inning for Tampa Bay, giving up a single to Jose Altuve, Houston’s only hit in the first four innings.

RARE ERROR

Adeiny Hechavarria made a fielding error on George Springer’s grounder in the top of the sixth just before Bregman’s homer. It ended a streak of 94 games and 319 chances in which the Rays’ shortstop had not committed a miscue. It was the longest errorless streak in franchise history for a shortstop. Hechavarria’s last error had come on July 30, 2017 at Yankee Stadium.

TRAINER’S ROOM

Astros: RHP Joe Smith (sore right elbow) will make what the Astros expect to be a final rehab appearance at Double-A Corpus Christi before being activated. … 1B Yuli Gurriel (paternity leave) is expected to be back in the lineup Sunday.

Rays: RHP Wilmer Font was placed on the 10-day disabled and RHP Hunter Wood was recalled from Triple-A Durham. Manager Kevin Cash said an optimistic timeframe has Font missing eight weeks. … Cash didn’t completely rule out RHP Chris Archer (left abdominal strain) from returning after his first rehab start Tuesday night锟?for Class A Charlotte.

UP NEXT

The series finale will be a matchup of two of baseball’s hottest pitchers. Houston RHP Charlie Morton (10-1, 2.54) has won three straight starts and has not given up an earned run in his last two. LHP Blake Snell (10-4, 2.31) did not give up a hit until the seventh inning of the Rays’ 11-0 win against Washington on Monday night.

At the time the score looked like a misprint.

Jacksonville 30. Pittsburgh 9 .

On the road.

A result so stunningly one-sided Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger stood in the locker room on that gray October afternoon only half-jokingly wondered if he still had ”it.”

Throwing five interceptions Zach Brown Jersey , two of which the Jaguars returned for momentum-swinging, confidence-sapping touchdowns, will do that.

Yet Roethlisberger insists he’s not out for revenge in the rematch on Sunday when the Jaguars (11-6) visit Heinz Field in the divisional round with a trip to the AFC title game on the line.

There’s too much at stake for him to settle some sort of personal vendetta.

Or so he says.

”I’ll play anyone in the postseason,” Roethlisberger said.

Only Jacksonville isn’t ”anyone.” Not anymore. Not after the NFL’s top-ranked defense proved that breakout performance three months ago was a sign of things to come.

The Jaguars don’t play a particularly pretty brand of football. They also don’t particularly care.

Doubt them all you want. Mock their offense at your leisure.

Last they checked, there will be 24 teams watching the playoffs this weekend and Jacksonville isn’t one of them.

”We’ve just got to score one more point than they do,” Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles said.

”It doesn’t matter who scores it, where it comes from, how we do it, what it looks like, we score one more than them and I’m happy with how we did it.”

Bortles and the other 52 guys on the roster might be the only ones.

The Steelers (13-3) entered the season as one of the favorites to reach the Super Bowl.

Despite a fall filled with drama (much of it self-created) Pittsburgh was really only pushed around once. By the Jaguars.

Take Jacksonville lightly at your peril, something the Steelers found out on Oct. 8.

”Some people come in thinking a team may be easier by their record or tougher by their record, but we know that can’t be on our mind,” Pittsburgh running back Le’Veon Bell said.

”I think that kind of got us in the first game because the Jacksonville Jaguars, they’re normally not a good team but those guys got players this year. They’ve been making plays.”

If the Jaguars can do it for another 60 minutes, they’ll reach the NFL’s final four for just the third time in franchise history.

Yes, really.

Some things to look for as the Jaguars try to pull off a second stunner against a team that believes its season is destined to end with a trip to Minneapolis for the Super Bowl.

AB’s BACK: Pittsburgh All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown is expected to play after missing the final 2+ games of the regular season with a left calf contusion. Brown practiced all week, though he was sent home on Friday because of an illness.

Brown caught 10 passes for 157 yards in the first meeting with Jacksonville and his return means all of Pittsburgh’s ”Killer Bs” will be ready to go.

”If he’s out there, I expect him to be AB,” Steelers cornerback Joe Haden said.

LEONARD’S LEAP: Jaguars rookie running back Leonard Fournette hammered the Steelers for a season-high 181 yards in October, including a 2-yard touchdown leap and a 90-yard sprint to the end zone in the final two minutes that sealed it. Fournette’s production has dipped in recent weeks. He’s only averaged higher than 3.9 yards per carry once over the past eight weeks, though Bortles doesn’t think Fournette has smacked into the rookie wall.

”There has obviously been some hiccups and bumps in the road with different things,” Bortles said. ”It’s not on him, it’s on guys up front, it’s on me getting us in the right play, receivers blocking. It’s on everyone.”

CHILL OUT DUDE: Temperatures are expected to be in the teens at kickoff, a decided departure for the Jaguars.

While Jacksonville coach Doug Marrone downplayed the elements, Bell believes he has an advantage when the mercury drops.

A year ago against Miami in the wild-card round, he pounded the Dolphins for 167 yards and two touchdowns as the temperature hovered around 17 degrees.

”It definitely affects guys who are tackling,” Bell said. ”That’s why when it’s cold outside I take a lot of pride because I know guys don’t want to tackle.”

COACH SHAY: Injured Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier spent some time at the team’s facility this week, getting around in a wheelchair while recovering from spinal stabilization surgery last month following a hit against Cincinnati that left his lower body motionless.

Shazier’s presence has provided the Steelers with a boost, and while his football career is likely over, he remains intent on finding a way to contribute. Shazier, who would get to work as early as 6 a.m. to break down film when he was playing, is now serving as equal parts advance scout and motivational speaker.

”He loves football so much Devin Bush Jersey ,” guard David DeCastro said. ”It’s amazing to see and just to have the attitude he has after all he’s been through man, it’s pretty impressive. I don’t know if I’d be able to do the same.”

The stunning turnaround by the Jacksonville Jaguars shows best in the NFL standings – and the All-Pro Team.

Rarely do the Jags have members of the elite All-Pro squad. For 2017, they have two: edge rusher Calais Campbell and cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

”It’s huge,” Campbell said. ”That’s a big testament to the work we put in. We don’t just show up and perform. We grind day in and day out to be the best. This defense is very special, so I’m glad to see us get some accolades for our hard work.”

Added Ramsey of The Associated Press All-Pro Team announced Friday:

”I can go on and on about corners I respect and I think are really good in the league. But I think (the voters) realize that I cover No. 1s every week, that I’m still putting up high numbers, still playing very well in my role and doing what I have to do.”

What Campbell and Ramsey did was help the Jaguars rank first in pass defense and second overall, earning their first playoff berth since the 2007 season.

One player, Antonio Brown, was the only unanimous choice for All-Pro. The brilliant wide receiver of the Pittsburgh Steelers drew all 50 ballots from a nationwide panel of media members who regularly cover the league. Brown missed the last two-plus games with an ankle injury.

He was among four players to make a fourth All-Pro squad, joining New England tight end Rob Gronkowski, Carolina linebacker Luke Kuechly and Los Angeles Rams punter Johnny Hekker.

The repeaters from 2016 were Brown; Rams interior defensive lineman Aaron Donald, who got 49 votes, and punter Hekker; and Seattle linebacker Bobby Wagner.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady made his third All-Pro team.

In their own turnaround season, the Rams led the way with six All-Pros, including two more specialists: kicker Greg Zuerlein and kick returner Pharoh Cooper. Running back Todd Gurley and left tackle Andrew Whitworth were honored.

”Dang, that’s crazy. It means a lot, honestly,” said Gurley, who likely would have led the league in rushing had he played in LA’s finale. ”It’s a blessing. I’ve got so much respect for everybody in this league, and to be in this position just means so much to me.

”I’ve been following people around the NFL my whole life, and to be considered as an All-Pro, man, God is good, honestly. Honestly.”

Three Steelers joined Brown on the roster: Le’Veon Bell as the flex, interior defensive lineman Cam Heyward, and right guard David DeCastro. No other team had more than two All-Pros, with the stronger NFC getting 18 players and the AFC 10.

Two rookies made it: punt returner Jamal Agnew of Detroit and special teamer Budda Baker of Arizona.

Also chosen: Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson and center Jason Kelce; Panthers left guard Andrew Norwell; Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins; Saints edge rusher Cameron Jordan; Cardinals linebacker Chandler Jones; Vikings cornerback Xavier Rhodes and safety Harrison Smith; Detroit defensive back Darius Slay; and Titans safety Kevin Byard.

First-timers made an impression on both sides of the ball, with 15 on the team: Byard, Slay, Rhodes, Jones, Jordan, Ramsey http://www.steelerscheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-diontae-johnson-jersey , Campbell, Hopkins, Norwell, Kelce, Johnson, Agnew, Baker, Gurley, and Cooper.

Wagner is on his third All-Pro squad.

”When you get voted for these types of awards,” he said, ”it shows you all the work you do in the offseason, the grinding, all the things you push through … when you get this, when people say this is not AFC, NFC, this is the league, this is who we deem the best at their position in the league, that says a lot. And you see the guys before you, the things they were able to accomplish, you’ve seen those things and you want those things. It’s part of that mindset of wanting to be great and understanding what comes along with that, and wanting that kind of acknowledgment.”

While making All-Pro has become almost natural for Wagner, Jordan finally got there in his seventh pro season.

”I’m definitely trying to push myself to be better than I was the year previous,” he said. ”I think I had a really good year last year. Of course, sack numbers won’t show that, but in terms of playing the run, in terms of getting after the passer I thought last year was one of my better years (7 1-2 sacks, 17 tackles for loss). So what I wanted to do this year is, of course, push myself to be better than last. That probably only poses the problem of where I go next year. Now I’ve got to shoot for more than what I did this year.”

CLEVELAND — Cody Allen is one of the least acclaimed yet most productive closers in the major leagues. On Friday night. when the Cleveland Indians open a three-game series with the Oakland A’s Dexter Lawrence Jersey , Allen will be in uniform at Progressive Field for the first time as the Indians’ career saves leader.

In pitching the ninth inning of a 3-2 Cleveland win in Kansas City on Wednesday, Allen posted his 140th career save, breaking Bob Wickman’s franchise record of 139, which had stood since 2006.

“He means so much to all of us,” Cleveland manager Terry Francona said of Allen. “This is a kid who was drafted in the 16th round, but through being a consummate professional, he’s now the Indians’ all-time leader. That’s pretty awesome. It’s a big accomplishment, and he’s not close to being done.”

Allen (2-3, 3.38 ERA) ranks seventh in the American League this year with 18 saves, but his year-in, year-out consistency has been his trademark. He has had at least 30 saves in each of the last three seasons. Only two other closers in the majors can say that: the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Kenley Jansen and Boston’s Craig Kimbrel.

“This is something I’m extremely proud of,” Allen said of passing Wickman as the club’s saves leader. “It’s something I get to hang my hat on for my career. It’s very cool.”

The A’s (48-39) come to Cleveland with nearly the same record as the Indians (48-37), but what a difference a division makes. The first-place Indians lead the AL Central by 11 1/2 games. The A’s are in third in the AL West Deandre Baker Jersey , 8 1/2 games behind the first-place Houston Astros.

The A’s won two of three games from the Indians last weekend in Oakland. That was part of a longer streak in which the A’s have won eight of their last nine. Since June 16, Oakland is 14-3.

“I think we’re having a lot of fun,” A’s third baseman Matt Chapman told MLB.com, “and no matter what the score is, I don’t think we count ourselves out. There’s no panic in the dugout. We just keep playing our game. We trust that we’re a good team.”

On Friday night, the A’s will send Paul Blackburn (2-2, 6.46 ERA) to the mound. In his last start on June 29 in Oakland, Blackburn baffled the Indians, pitching 6 1/3 scoreless innings and giving up just three hits in a 3-1 victory.

Blackburn has started five major league games this year. In the one against Cleveland, he is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and an opponents’ batting average of .150. In the other four starts, he’s 1-2 with an 8.83 ERA and an opponents’ batting average of .324. In two career starts against the Indians, Blackburn is 1-0 with a 2.19 ERA.

Cleveland will counter with Carlos Carrasco (8-5, 4.24) Oshane Ximines Jersey , who will make his first start since June 16, a 9-3 loss to Minnesota in which he was knocked out of the game in the second inning after getting hit in the right arm by a line drive off the bat of Joe Mauer.

Carrasco was placed on the 10-day disabled list the next day with a right elbow contusion. He made one rehab start at Double-A Akron on June 30, pitching four scoreless innings and giving up one hit with four strikeouts and one walk.

Carrasco’s last legitimate start was his best start of the year, a 4-0 win over the Chicago White Sox on June 11. In that game, he pitched seven scoreless innings and gave up two hits and one walk with 11 strikeouts.

In six career appearances, including five starts, against Oakland, Carrasco is 3-1 with a 2.61 ERA.

“I’m going to Disney World,” Nick Foles said after his Super Bowl win. That was what Nick Foles uttered after winning the Super Bowl, just a couple of months after he helped come in to save the Philadelphia Eagles after Carson Wentz suffered an ACL injury which ended his 2017 season. The Eagles were Super Bowl LII frontrunners, but were counted out by everyone once Wentz went down. Nick Foles did enough to clinch the no.1 seed, managed the divisional round game against Atlanta, then lit up the NFL's top defense in the NFC Championship Julian Love Jersey , before eventually defeating Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.Even though Foles was the one to get the Super Bowl win, head coach Doug Pederson continues to remind Eagles fans that Carson Wentz will be the starter when he's healthy. With Foles being on the top of the world, and still under contract, that makes him a really valuable trade weapon for the Eagles. It would be pretty unreal to see the Foles sit on the bench after he won Super Bowl LII MVP. Foles has proven he’s a starting quarterback in the NFL, and ironically, a lot of teams need a quarterback either now, or in the future. Philly seems to be in no rush to trade Foles, but if a team knocked their socks off with an offer, they'd have to listen, or risk losing Foles in free agency next year. If Foles were to move on from Philly, here are some QB needy teams he'd want to play for and who he wouldn't want to join.

Marcus Mariota threw for a touchdown to give the Tennessee Titans an early lead http://www.coltscheapshop.com/cheap-authentic-ben-banogu-jersey , and had another TD pass that was the final score of the game.

In between, he spent a lot of time trying to limp away from the New England Patriots rush.

One week after leading the Titans to victory in his first career playoff game, Mariota took his first postseason loss – and took it hard – absorbing eight sacks while the Patriots scored five touchdowns in a row on their way to a 35-14 victory in the AFC divisional round Saturday night.

”Man, embarrassed,” said Mariota, who sustained what coach Mike Mularkey said was a strained quadriceps muscle in the first quarter and went 44 minutes between scores.

”It felt like the momentum was on our side” after a 15-yard pass to Corey Davis gave the Titans a 7-0 lead, Mariota said. ”They’re a team that’s been here before, and they didn’t blink an eye. They just stuck to their game plan and it worked out for them.”

Just two seasons after going 3-13 when Mariota was a rookie, the Titans (10-8) reached the playoffs for the first time since 2008. Last week, they earned their first postseason victory in 14 years , rallying from a 21-3 halftime deficit to beat Kansas City in the wild-card round.

Against the defending Super Bowl champions, the two-touchdown underdogs jumped out to a surprising early lead but still trailed 21-7 at the half.

”We saw what happened last week in Kansas City Parris Campbell Jersey , when Kansas City had a lead at the half similar to the one that we had,” Patriots coach Bill Belichick said. ”Our guys did a real good job of kind of keeping their foot on the gas and keep pressing it.”

Mularkey said Mariota’s leg prevented him from scrambling away from the New England rush. The Patriots sacked him four times in the third quarter – including back-to-back plays that left Tennessee with a third-and-31 from their own 2 – and three more in the fourth.

”They did a good job with the line game,” Mularkey said. ”Marcus was hampered. Tough to get away.”

Mariota completed 22 of 37 passes for 254 yards and two touchdowns in the game, both of them to Davis. He also ran four times for 37 yards.

But Tom Brady was even better in leading New England to its seventh consecutive AFC championship game, completing 35 of 53 passes for 337 yards and three touchdowns. Danny Amendola caught 11 passes for 112 yards, Rob Gronkowski had six catches for 81 yards and a touchdown and James White scored twice, once running and one receiving.

The Patriots will host the AFC title game on Jan. 21 against the winner of Sunday’s game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Pittsburgh Steelers. It will be Brady’s 12th appearance in the conference championship.

”Obviously, this is the blueprint,” Mariota said. ”New England has been in the playoffs consistently. They’ve won a bunch of championships and we can learn a lot from this, and I think we will.”

The Titans also committed 10 penalties in the game after a season in which they had the second-fewest in the NFL. One of the calls was for an offside that allowed the Patriots to avoid punting from their own end zone; they went on to score and extend the lead to 21-7.

”You can’t make those mistakes against a really good team that’s waiting for you to do it,” said Mularkey, whose job was reportedly in jeopardy even after reaching the playoffs.

”They didn’t make a lot of mistakes. That’s why they’ve been successful all these years. You can’t go and beat yourselves http://www.ravenscheapstores.com/miles-boykin-jersey-cheap ,” he said. ”I’d like to see us play a complete game. … We didn’t.”

Noteworthy National Football League players change teams each and every offseason, while some others make important and, in some cases, historic decisions about their futures. Athletes performing on contracts that do not carry no-trade causes sometimes cannot decide upon where they play following transactions that occur either during an offseason or in the fall. On the other hand, those who are either cut or who enter free agency following the expiration of deals are able to negotiate with different teams so long as they are not married to clubs via the franchise tag or transition tag. Because of salary-cap concerns, locker-room chemistry and other matters, it isn’t uncommon for big names to change teams every spring. This movement helps to ensure the survival of the league’s parity. Professional football is a grueling sport that, unfortunately, causes long-term issues to those who enjoy lengthy careers and also to those who only spend a brief time in the league. Knowing this, some Superstars who have managed to earn millions of dollars during their careers could be encouraged and even convinced to retire despite still being able to go on Sundays. This is often a difficult decision for a pro regardless of talent, and it is one that isn’t taken lightly by veterans who admittedly still love the game. Who among us will soon forget Peyton Manning being reduced to tears during his retirement speech because of how much he was going to miss leading offenses out onto fields? A handful of other stars may join Manning in retirement before the 2018 NFL season begins.

Brad Keller has never given Royals manager Ned Yost a reason to question his confidence.

Not when the young right-hander walked into the clubhouse in spring training Joey Bosa Jersey , freshly acquired from Arizona in the Rule 5 draft. Not when he was thrown into the bullpen after spending most of his career as a starter. And not when Yost moved him back to the rotation in the big leagues.

So when Keller stared down the Los Angeles Angels‘ potent lineup, and held Mike Trout and Co. to two hits over seven innings, the skipper may have one of the few people in the ballpark unsurprised.

”He was never wide-eyed. Never overwhelmed in any situation we put him in,” Yost marveled after the 22-year-old Keller pitched the Royals to a 2-0 win Monday in the makeup of a game frozen out in April.

Keller (2-2) struck out six and walked two in his fifth career major league start. Nobody reached second on him, one of his two baserunners was wiped out by a double play, and he gamely retired the side in order in the seventh, when his pitch count eclipsed 100 for the first time this season.

”I definitely feel more comfortable with every start,” Keller said. ”Just try not to let the moment get too big, especially up here. Things tend to snowball up here.”

His bullpen made the outstanding start stand up, too.

Kevin McCarthy struck out Chris Young and retired Ian Kinsler to strand a runner on third base in the eighth, and Wily Peralta finished the three-hitter by working around Albert Pujols’ single in the ninth.

It was the first save for the longtime starter in 136 career big league games.

”In a game like this, you’re not going to hang your hat on one situation. We just didn’t do enough offensively,” Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. ”On the offensive side it was a tough day for us.”

The Royals scored the only run they needed off Tyler Skaggs (6-5) in the fourth. Duda, who is known primarily for his power Nick Bosa Jersey , managed to dribble a single through the infield, driving in Hunter Dozier after he reached on a leadoff double on a mild, sun-splashed afternoon.

Herrera added an RBI single, his career-high third hit of the game, in the eighth inning.

Skaggs, who was scratched from his start last week with right hamstring tightness, allowed seven hits and walked two in seven innings. He struck out eight for the third straight start.

”It’s difficult. A quick turnaround,” Skaggs said. ”A day game yesterday, fly here, kind of another day game – an afternoon game – and another game tomorrow. A lot of travelling and a tough schedule, but nobody’s feeling sorry for us.”

Indeed, both teams had to fly into Kansas City for the makeup game. The Angels kicked off a road trip that sends them to Boston and Baltimore, and the Royals stopped between series in Houston and Milwaukee.

Not that Yost’s bunch minds now. The Royals had lost nine in a row at Kauffman Stadium, and had been outscored 54-17 over the stretch L.J. Collier Jersey , with their last win coming June 2 against Oakland.

Of their four wins overall in June, three have been shutouts.

JACKIE ROBINSON DAY

The Angels and Royals were supposed to wear No. 42 to celebrate Jackie Robinson when their game was frozen out on April 15. So, everybody donned the iconic No. 42 jerseys Monday instead.

”When we were going to do it, it was like, what, 18 degrees here?” Scioscia said. ”The guys were really looking forward to it. We’re glad we get the chance.”

ESKY ALL OVER

The Royals’ Alcides Escobar started at third to give Mike Moustakas a day off. The club wants to give youngster Adalberto Mondesi a long look at shortstop, so Escobar has been moved around a bit. He started in center in Houston last Friday and has a majors-leading streak of 411 consecutive starts.

TRAINER’S ROOM

Angels: RHP Garrett Richards (left hamstring strain) threw off a mound, but Scioscia warned ”we’ll have to progress from there.” … INF Zack Cozart (left shoulder subluxation) began baseball activities but is still in the evaluation phase. … INF Jefry Marte (left wrist sprain) is also swinging now. ”We’ve got a whole team back in Southern California,” Scioscia deadpanned.

Royals: INF Cheslor Cuthbert remains sidelined with a lower back strain. ”He’s starting to feel a little better,” Yost said, but there is no timetable for his return.

UP NEXT

The Angels begin their scheduled road trip Tuesday night in Boston, where left-hander John Lamb (0-0, 5.40 ERA) starts in the opener of a three-game set. Kansas City returns to the road with right-hander Jakob Junis (5-8, 4.43 ERA) starting the first of two games in Milwaukee on Tuesday night.

It was a question that came up again this week when Atlanta played host to Georgia’s overtime loss to Alabama in the national championship game Marquise Blair Jersey , complete with the squandering of a double-digit lead.

Is this the worst sports city in America ?

Turns out, the A-T-L has some stiff competition.

To start with, here are the five biggest losers, presented in alphabetical order with their rare accomplishments and plethora of failures.

Congratulations, Minneapolis-St. Paul, you just missed the cut.

ATLANTA

Major Pro Championships: One. The Braves won the 1995 World Series.

Flops: The Braves fell short of a championship every other time during their run of 14 straight division titles. The Falcons lost twice in the Super Bowl. The Hawks have never reached the NBA Finals. Two NHL teams – the Flames and the Thrashers – moved to Canada.

Back To School: Atlanta (along with nearby Athens) does get some credit for its college sports. Georgia Tech claimed a share of the football national championship in 1990. The University of Georgia, about 75 miles away, captured the 1980 title and is one of the nation’s most prominent programs.

Biggest Disappointment: The Falcons blowing a 25-point lead in last year’s Super Bowl .

Did You Know? The Chiefs won the 1968 North American Soccer League title, so some Atlantans insist the city has two championships. Nice try.

BUFFALO

Major Pro Championships: None (sorry, two titles won by the Bills before the American Football League merged with the NFL fail to qualify).

Flops: The Bills lost four straight Super Bowls in the early 1990s and had the longest active postseason drought of any North American franchise (2000-16) before making the playoffs this season. The Sabres came up short in their two trips to the Stanley Cup final and are now on course to miss the NHL playoffs for the seventh year in a row. The Braves lasted just eight NBA seasons in the 1970s before moving to San Diego.

Back To School: The University of Buffalo football team has only two winning seasons since moving up to the NCAA FBS ranks in 1999. The Bulls men’s basketball team was one-and-done in its two NCAA tournament appearances.

Biggest Disappointment: History might have been a lot different if Scott Norwood had made a 47-yard field goal with just seconds to play in the 1991 Super Bowl. It went wide right, and the Bills lost to the Giants 20-19. Buffalo was blown out in its next three Super Bowls.

Did You Know? Buffalo had a team in the baseball’s Federal League, which attempted to become a third major league in the 1914-15. It didn’t work out.

CLEVELAND

Major Pro Championships: Eight. A rather high number for this list, but the Indians won the last of their two World Series titles in 1948 and the Browns have never been to the Super Bowl, though they do have four NFL championships from the 1950s and `60s. LeBron James and the Cavaliers really messed things up by winning their first NBA crown in 2016. (Left off this list: the Browns’ four straight AAFC titles and the Cleveland Bulldogs D.K. Metcalf Jersey , whoever they were, taking the 1924 championship in the fledgling NFL.)

Flops: The Indians were swept in the 1954 World Series after winning 111 games, and they squandered a lead in the ninth inning of Game 7 in the `97 Series. The Browns went 0-16 this season . The Cavs have lost three times in the NBA Finals. The Barons expired in the 1970s after lasting just two NHL seasons.

Back To School: Best we can come up with is nearby Youngstown State winning four FCS national football titles.

Biggest Disappointment: In the 1987 AFC championship game at Cleveland, John Elway directed the Broncos 98 yards for a tying touchdown in the final minute of regulation, a possession forever known as ”The Drive.” The Broncos advanced to the Super Bowl with a field goal in overtime.

Did You Know? The Rams started out in Cleveland. They even won the NFL title in 1945 – and moved to Los Angeles the very next season.

PHOENIX

Major Pro Championships: One. The Arizona Diamondbacks won the 2001 World Series in their fourth year of existence.

Flops: The Arizona Cardinals have made just five NFL playoff appearances since moving to the desert in 1988. The Phoenix Suns lost twice in the NBA Finals. The NHL Coyotes are an attendance-challenged franchise that seems constantly on the verge of moving .

Back To School: In 1996, Arizona State’s bid for a perfect season and its first national football title ended with a 20-17 loss to Ohio State in the Rose Bowl. The program hasn’t come close to matching that level of success.

Biggest Disappointment: The Cardinals made an improbable run to the 2009 Super Bowl, only to lose to the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-23.

Did You Know? The city does have a three-time WNBA champion, the Phoenix Mercury.

SAN DIEGO

Major Pro Championships: None (as with Buffalo, we’re not counting the Chargers’ 1963 AFL title, nor the 10 indoor soccer titles won by the Sockers).

Flops: The Padres were blown out in their two World Series appearances. The Chargers only Super Bowl run ended with a 49-26 rout by the 49ers. A pair of NBA teams, the Rockets and the Clippers, abandoned the city.

Back To School: San Diego State twice reached the men’s basketball Sweet 16 under Steve Fisher. That’s about it for the college game.

Biggest Disappointment: After failing to work out a deal for a new stadium, the Chargers moved to Los Angeles last year .

Did You Know? Wilt Chamberlain was blocked in court when he

SAN JOSE Andrej Sustr Jersey Womens ,Calif. (AP) — Timo Meier says he isn’t a big stats guy. The San Jose Sharks‘ forward insists his focus is on winning.“My goal is to help the team win games and to do as much as I can,” he said. “I’m not a numbers guy. I’m not focusing on numbers, only to be the best player I can be.”He was every bit the player the Sharks needed on Saturday night.Meier got his second goal of the game 13 seconds into overtime and the Sharks rallied to beat the Philadelphia Flyers 4-3.Joe Pavelski and Joe Thornton also scored for San Jose, and Martin Jones finished with 22 saves.Nolan Patrick, Jordan Weal and Jakub Voracek scored for Philadelphia, which was looking to sweep the California portion of its trip after beating Anaheim and Los Angeles earlier in the week. Oskar Lindblom had two assists and Cal Pickard stopped 29 shots in his third start.Meier’s winning goal was his 11th on the season, and eighth in his last seven games.“He’s been great,” Sharks coach Pete DeBoer said. “Thankfully he’s off to the start he’s off to. We need him. We needed somebody to step up.”Logan Couture assisted the game-winner, extending his career-best point streak to nine games.Thornton’s first goal of the season with just under 5 minutes left in the third tied the score 3-3.Thornton, 39, missed nearly half of last season after undergoing knee surgery on his right MCL, and just came off injured reserve with swelling in the same knee.“Great for Joe,” DeBoer said. “Great for him to get one. He’s been through an awful lot, worked his (butt) off for months here to get back. I think it’s appropriate that he was the guy that got us back in the game. So that was awesome.”Voracek had given the Flyers the lead with 30 seconds remaining in the second.Patrick opened the scoring just 37 seconds into the game, and Meier tied it at 3:15.Weal put the Flyers back ahead with 3:20 left in the opening period Barrett Hayton Jersey Womens , but Pavelski evened the score again just past the midpoint of the second.“I’m (upset) about losing tonight, so that’s all I evaluated,” Flyers coach Dave Hakstol said. “Not worried about the last two games and I’m not worried about the next game. I don’t like the way we lost the game tonight and that’s that. But we had a lot of guys that battled hard tonight and that park I like. We came into a tough building, we fought for a point, we wanted the next point.”NOTES: Flyers G Michal Neuvirth (lower body injury) was sent back to Philadelphia to meet with team doctors. … Sharks coach Pete DeBoer shook up his team’s lineup, moving F Evander Kane to the first line and returning Meier to the second line. Rookie C Rourke Chartier skated on the third line in place of rookie Antti Suomela, a healthy scratch. . C Tomas Hertl left the game in the second period. DeBoer said he experienced a head injury, the extent of which wasn’t immediately known.UP NEXTFlyers: Conclude their four-game road trip on Monday in Arizona.Sharks: Host Minnesota on Tuesday. VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Sitting high above the ice of Rogers Arena, Vancouver Canucks general manager Jim Benning is recalling fond memories of his time playing junior hockey for the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League and their trips up Interstate 5 to play at the old Mercer Arena against the Seattle Thunderbirds.Well, how fond he is depends on the perspective.“They had chicken wire, and the fans were rowdy,” Benning recalled recently. “The thing with the chicken wire is like you’d line up for a faceoff and they could spit right through the chicken wire.”While Benning’s memories of playing against Seattle remain — and who could forget chain-link fence in place of glass boards at one end of the rink — he’s also thinking ahead. Looking out at an empty arena a couple of hours before a Canucks faceoff, he can envision fans of Seattle’s new NHL franchise making the trek north on I-5, through the border crossing and into downtown Vancouver to watch their team play the Canucks. He has no doubt it will be a healthy rivalry and great for the sport in this corner of North America. But the Canucks see the addition of Seattle as more than adding a rival 2 ½ hours away by car. Seattle will be a critical partner for the future success of both franchises. The approval of Seattle as the 32nd NHL franchise earlier this week has thrilled hockey fans who for years made their way north to Vancouver to see the game played at its highest level. But there’s an almost equally excited group just north of the 49th parallel who can’t wait for 2021 when the Seattle franchise begins play.“Vancouver is already a partner. They were the most enthusiastic team in the league about this. They love the idea of this rivalry Michael Grabner Jersey Womens ,” Seattle team President Tod Leiweke said. “I think for the two cities to connect like this, the two cities are 130 miles away but now they’re going to connect in a whole different way and I think that’s one of the great things that is going to come out of all this is a deep, deep visceral connection between Vancouver and Seattle and we’re going to play some great games.”Adding Seattle to the league helps the Canucks in various ways, from marketing to travel and interest in the game. The team is already planning ways it can sell Seattle’s addition, even if it’s three years away.Canucks COO Jeff Stipec noted that even as Vancouver’s on-ice product is improving around a core of young stars and rejuvenating interest in the city after a few down seasons, the fans flocking back to the games are seeking different opportunities. They want special events, like being able to hop on a bus for a road trip to Seattle.“Our season ticket members, what they’re looking for now are experiences,” said Stipec, who according to Canadian media reports is stepping down from his position but is currently still in his role with the team. The team has not made any announcement about Stipec’s future. While it would seem the proximity of the two cities might create issues in competing for dollars on the business side, it doesn’t appear that will be the case largely because of the border. The border creates a natural break between the two teams, both in their attempts to gain market share, but also in seeking corporate dollars and the acquisition of talent.“It’s not that we just have somebody that’s two and a half hours away, we have that international border between us,” Stipec said. “So that protects us a lot from corporate partnerships Marian Hossa Jersey Womens , broadcast rights, a whole bunch of things. It’s not like a Pittsburgh-Philadelphia situation. So it’s great that way, that we have our own protected markets in a sense in some of those key areas.”The Canucks have not actively sought to promote themselves in the Seattle area, though playoff games have been broadcast on Seattle sports radio at times through the years. Still, hockey fans in the area have made the Canucks their team.Alym Rayani lives just outside Seattle and has gone in with friends on season tickets for the Canucks for about a decade. After spending part of his childhood in Vancouver, Rayani drove back for games after settling in Seattle during the Canucks’ run as one of the Western Conference’s elite teams earlier this decade. But like others from the Seattle area who regularly attend Canucks games, they’re hockey fans more than Vancouver fans. For Rayani, his loyalty and his dollars will belong to Seattle when it comes on board. He’s No. 16 on the season-ticket deposit list.“I definitely feel loyalty to the Canucks being born there and having lived there, but I think it will be interesting how I’m going to feel 10 years from now,” Rayani said. “My kids, they watch the Canucks now, they’re going to be huge Seattle fans I’m sure. … I think over time I will morph to Seattle. I like the idea of being a fan or part of something from day one.”

The Bruins hold the first wild card position and the Canadiens the second spot in the Eastern Conference.“They’re a team in our division and those are important points,” Montreal coach Claude Julien told NHL.com after the game against the Sabres. “We had control of the game there until the last two and a half minutes when they tied the game up. I thought we played a good, sound game overall. We were much better defensively, but discipline at the end, we take a penalty … and failing to clear the puck at times, and it ended up in the back of our net.”Consistency has been an issue for the Canadiens, who are 4-3-3 in their past 10 games.“Obviously we didn’t get the result we wanted to but I think we got better as the game went on, and again lose some puck battles in front of the net to just put us behind the eight ball,” Canadiens forward Andrew Shaw told NHL.com.The Bruins, playing without five regulars, will be looking to improve their play on the road. The win over the Penguins was their eighth in 10 homes games; they are 4-4-4 on the road this season. The Bruins got a strong effort from former Canadiens goaltender Jaroslav Halak against the Penguins. He made 36 saves as the Bruins have a string of four games with a point (2-0-2).“I mean we’re going to be a tough team to beat — any team would be, if both their goalies are going well,” Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy told NHL.com. “Let’s face it, we knew we had Tuukka (Rask) and (Jaroslav) Halak … we’ve said all along, we thought (Halak would) be a very good backup. He’s been a starter in this league Tyler Graovac Jersey Womens , so that’s an area we feel we have covered, goaltending.”With top center Patrice Bergeron out, Cassidy used rookie Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson on the top line between Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak and the unit kept Penguins star Sidney Crosby off the scoresheet.“He battled,” was the way Cassidy described Forsbacka Karlsson’s play to the Boston Herald. “Listen, he’s seven games in. Two games ago I was concerned he could handle a third-line role. I just saw some growth in Detroit so I said ‘Well, let’s see if he can take another step against Crosby.’ He’s got two good wingers with him offensively, but if he could take care of the defense thing … listen, they had some chances. I know our goaltending had to come through. It usually does. But to keep them at no 5-on-5 goals, you’ve got to give credit to everybody on the ice against a good offensive and he was a part of that.”The Bruins got the winner from Joakim Nordstrom at 1:57 of overtime Friday, who has four goals, two more than he had all of last season with the Carolina Hurricanes. It was a gritty win for the Bruins heading into their rivalry game against the Canadiens.“That was huge,” Nordstrom told The Herald. “We’ve fought hard in OTs in a few games before and we weren’t able to get the extra point. We had some discussions about it before this game and we’re all happy it ended this way.” Monday's NHL trade deadline continues to draw closer, and the dominoes are starting to fall. A big one toppled early Friday afternoon, when the Ottawa Senators traded center Matt Duchene to the Columbus Blue Jackets. The move was announced just hours before the two teams faced off.John Shannon JSportsnetThe details:To Ottawa:2019 1st Round Pick. Vitali Abramov, Jonathan Davidsson and a conditional 2020 1st Round Pick. To Columbus: Matt Duchene and Julius BergmanWith Duchene off the market, it could spark a flurry of activity. Columbus was far from the only team interested in acquiring Duchene. The Nashville Predators Noah Hanifin Jersey Womens , for example, were interested in both adding and extending him, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet and NHL Network.Columbus winger Artemi Panarin has been a popular potential target. This is because he is set to be a free agent in the offseason, but unfortunatelyfor teams looking to buy at the deadline,he has made it clear that he plans to test the market."It's one life, one chance for free agency, and I want to test free agency," Panarin said in early February, per Brian Hedger of the Columbus Dispatch. That put the Blue Jackets in a precarious situation. If Panarin leaves in free agency, they get nothing in return. Moving him before the deadline could bring some compensation but would also hurt the team's chances of a strong playoff run. This left other teams waiting to see how Columbus would handle the situation. The New York Rangers, New York Islanders and Florida Panthers were among those interested in Panarin, according to Craig Custance of The Athletic. They now have their answer about Columbus' intentions. Duchene's acquisition is a clear statement that the Blue Jackets are all-in on a 2019 run. It also means Panarin is most likely off the table. Barring an incredible offer, the Blue Jackets are content to keep him for the stretch run, according to Pierre LeBrun of TSN and The Athletic. The Duchene trade is likely bad news for teams looking to buy on another front as well. It may mean that Senators winger Mark Stone is close to unobtainable.David Zalubowski/Associated PressOttawa would obviously part with Stone if someone blows them away with an offer, but it's felt for a while that he is the most likely to stay put over Duchene and Ryan Dzingel. Andy Strickland of Fox Sports Midwest recently reported that there has been nothing but positive feedback on Stone within the organization:Andy Strickland andystricklandMark Stone seems to be the most likely to stay with the #Sens. Hear nothing but great things about him as a player and leader. Might want to see what Duchene and Dzingel bring back first but there鈥檚 a growing sentiment that he鈥檒l stay.It appears that Ottawa is setting a high price for Stone ahead of the deadline, one that could scare off most suitors."If the Ottawa Senators do tradeMark Stone Brian Gibbons Jersey Womens , the belief is that they'd be looking for four elements to the trade," TSN's Bob McKenzie said on Insider Trading. "It could be as much as two first-round picks and two very good prospects."According to LeBrun, some teams are "blushing" at such a price tag, though others do remain interested:Pierre LeBrun PierreVLeBrunSome teams are blushing at the original ask from Ottawa on Mark Stone. And yet so tempted because he鈥檚 so damn good. Key for some teams will be to estimate their chances of re-signing him.It might not just be Stone whom the Senators are making hard to get. Callum Fraser of NHL.com reported that Ottawa is hoping to keep both Stone and Dzingel."We're still working on convincing a few others to stay," general manager Pierre Dorion said, per Fraser. "However, we will be prepared for every scenario."If teams cannot pry away either Stone or Dzingel, Philadelphia Flyers winger Wayne Simmonds could become the hot name on the market. Simmonds is in the midst of a down season, but there is interest around the league in acquiring him鈥攁nd that could soon pick up steam.John Boruk of NBC Sports Philadelphia recently wrote the following:"According to league sources, the majority of buyers looking for that blockbuster deal to boost their roster are all waiting for the Ottawa Senators to make the first move. "... Once those wheels are set into motion and both players are traded as anticipated, it's expected the teams will start moving quickly towardtheir secondary plans and that's where Fletcher, the Flyers and Wayne Simmonds all come into play."This means Philadelphia will be among the teams waiting to see how things unfold with Ottawa.
