With Marcus Mariota is a little late Youth Nate Davis Jersey , but that’s okay considering the Titans have a bye this week. The Titans lost another close game—this time to the Chargers—to ultimately relinquish first place in the AFC South to the Houston Texans while falling to 3-4. After riding a three-game winning streak, Tennessee is on a three-game losing streak that leaves fans with more questions than answers going into the bye.Marcus Mariota completed 75% of his passes (24/32) against the Chargers for 237 yards, a touchdown, an interception, and a 92.8 passer rating. While he’s been taking heat from across the NFL circle—even from Titans fans—I don’t think he’s generally been the problem for this offense in 2018. Sure he’s had his bad moments, but in a conservative passing game with no consistent threat at receiver, it’s been a rough grind for the fourth-year starter.Let’s take a look at a few “highlight” moments from Sunday’s game:A red zone interception. This season is officially over.gamepass.nfl.comMariota’s streak of zero red zone interceptions came to an end in London (the streak in America is still alive), as Melvin Ingram tipped this pass into Denzel Perryman’s arms for the pick. Mariota releases this pass just as he gets his head up from the jet sweep fake, so my guess here is that he’s expecting Ingram to rush instead of hesitate and play the pass. He got lucky earlier in the game when Ingram dropped a line drive pass into his chest, but couldn’t get away with it twice.Either way, this pass is picked off on a rare red zone interception from Mariota. Outside of that, however, Mariota was pretty accurate throughout the game and suffered with two massive drops on the same drive.Probably should’ve signed a receiver in free agency.gamepass.nfl.comThe first massive drop came from Taywan Taylor, who has become a complete liability as a pass catcher anywhere but underneath on a screen. Mariota does a great job reacting to the edge pressure in time, climbing up, resetting himself and firing a great throw to Taylor only to watch it go through his hands for an incomplete pass. The Titans receivers, much like the Colts with Andrew Luck, owe Mariota for a lot of drops that have occurred this season. Another example comes from Corey Davis a few plays after Taylor’s drop.Good God why would you attack this ball with one hand what’s the pointgamepass.nfl.comCorey Davis is easily one of the most frustrating #1 wide receivers in the league. Creating separation is no problem from here Nate Davis Tennessee Titans Jersey , as shown here where he runs a nice route. It’s his lack oftiming and failure to be on the same page with Mariota that have made him so bad in his sophomore season. What Davis does here on 3rd and 7 is inexcusable. For reasons only known to Davis, he tries catching this ball with one hand despite it not being close to being warranted. The Titans are down 20-13 with 8:30 left in regulation as this occurs, and managed to get zero points on this drive as Ryan Succop’s ensuing field goal attempt went wide right.I’m getting flashbacks of Dorial Green-Beckham. Don’t give me flashbacks of Dorial Green-Beckham.gamepass.nfl.comAgain the route by Davis is great, but his timing is horrendous. Davis had a rough rookie year, but I expected him to flash a lot more this season due to his talent. It only happened once against the Eagles and has never popped up again. It’s easy to blame Mariota for the struggles on Tennessee’s offense with his low placement in both raw stats and analytics. I happen to be a heavy investor in analytics, as they are a phenomenal tool to use to figure out the best and worst at the statistic for players at said position. With that said, the problem with the use of analytics isn’t the tool itself, but how people use it. Like I said, analytics are a phenomenal tool, but the criticism of Mariota for low yards per attempt and more touchdowns than interceptions, to me, comes without much context. Not a lot is mentioned of how Mariota is playing and instead the criticism becomes how he’s playing statistically. To me, these analytics need to be combined with context in order to get it, though I respect people’s opinions on the matter regardless. From my perspective, what was supposed to be a friendlier offense from new coordinator Matt LaFleur has turned into a conservative, weak attack without much of a plan. The guard play has been pretty poor this season, and the lack of consistent threats at wide receiver (hopefully Tajae Sharpe changes that) makes it extremely easy for defenses to attack Tennessee without fear. But Mariota has been accurate this season in a bad situation over the Titans’ last three games. Outside of the Ravens game where he was sacked 11 times, he’s been a poised pocket passer and has been consistently sharp with his throws. If someone happens to feel otherwise Brian Orakpo Jersey , that’s fine. I’m just offering my perspective on the matter.Going into the bye, the Titans face far more problems than solutions on offense, but Marcus Mariota is not one of their problems.Titans Links: Kickoff Week Its the most wonderful time of the year everyone! We have real NFL football!!!!!! After a good weekend of college games, the NFL kicks off this Thursday with the Eagles against the Falcons. The Titans elected 5 captains for the 2018 season. Marcus Mariota, Delanie Walker, Darren Bates, Wesley Woodyard, and Jurrell Casey were all voted into captaincy by their peers. This weekend was the weekend that NFL teams needed to get their rosters down to 53 players, so the Titans complied and cut 35 players. Some surprises were Stinnie, Batson, and Dickerson. The DL is very thin right now, and that’ll be something to look at this season. The other big takeaway here was that Jack Conklin came off the PUP list. Will Compton has filled a void for the Titans, says Turron Davenport. Wyatt has some quick hits from Monday’s practice. Cameron Batson was a surprise to make the team, but he beat the odds, and earned it. Read this great story on his reaction.

He has returned to form as an effective pass rusher despite the injury.

Golden Nuggets: Enter the Beathard Well http://www.49erslockerroom.com/authentic-mike-person-jersey , one more day and we get to see the 2019 version of C.J. Beathard. Two things going into this, because I’ve written at length about all of this madness (and I’m still not done); 1) Thank goodness it’s no longer his rookie season because even Peyton Manning had a subpar rookie season (56.7 completion percentage, 26 touchdowns, 28 interceptions) 2) As atrocious as last season was for him, at least he got some playing time. This year the first game jitters will have worn off and it won’t be near as overwhealming with the above going on. A while back I said Beathard got the best situation he could ask for, starting, then going to the bench as a backup. He got a taste of the NFL game which makes him a far better backup than someone who is green and coming into things when games matter. These games aren’t en route to a Super Bowl appearance, but at least Beathard can run the offense to Shanahan’s specifications. Some games this year are going to be bad, but they won’t be near as bad as think they can be thanks to Beathard’s experience. Let’s hope for improvement. On Sunday, we learned that Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown spent some time on FaceTime with Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice. On Monday, Rice spilled the beans on their topic of conversation during a conversation on 95.7 The Game. It’s not entirely shocking they discussed the San Francisco 49ers.The hosts asked Rice directly if he got the sense that Brown would like to play for the 49ers.This is not going to make a deal happen, but it’s certainly good to know where Brown’s head is at. Rice said the two have kept in communication in general, and he loves the idea of what Brown could bring to the 49ers offense.Rice probably does not have a whole lot of influence in getting a deal done Justin Skule San Francisco 49ers Jersey , and frankly, Brown’s influence remains connected to how much of a pain he can make life for the Steelers. Team president Art Rooney has said Pittsburgh will not rule anything out other than that they won’t release him for no compensation. Steelers people think they can get a first round pick, but rival GMs think a second and maybe a third is as high as they could score on this.Whatever the case, any significant discussions will probably not start until the NFL Combine. I could see some very preliminary chatter happening at the college all star games and during Super Bowl week, but the Combine is where things really kick into high gear as the new league year approaches. If the Steelers are intent on searching out deals, that’s probably when the national media reports will start picking up steam. In the meantime, another Niner recruiter is welcome to the mix!

Per multiple reports, the players allegedly tried to leave without paying a $64 Cheap Marquise Blair Jersey ,000 bar tab. Via BBC. With Earl Thomas set to move on from the Seahawks in free agency, the future at free safety in Seattle is a curious thought. Tedric Thompson stepped in for Thomas, following the All-Pro’s season-ending injury in Week 4, and started the rest of the way except for two weeks missed through injury. Thompson’s performance was up-and-down, with the downs ranging from glaring to catastrophic. Most would like to see the Seahawks address the position this offseason and find Bradley McDougald a long-term partner on the back-end. (On the topic of McDougald, let’s address this now: Signing or drafting a strong safety and moving McDougald to free safety is not an option. Yes, McDougald is the best safety currently on the roster and would provide the best play at free safety as it stands. However, a full-time move to free safety would require a drastic change in scheme by Pete Carroll. That’s simply not happening.)Though Thompson may not have instilled confidence in a fan base that has spent nine seasons watching Hall of Fame play at free safety, that doesn’t necessarily mean the coaching staff is in agreement. From the beginning of Thomas’s holdout in August through to the end of the season, Pete Carroll spoke of Thompson as though he’s the long-term plan at free safety. Importantly, he also consistently spoke of how important it was for Thompson to have confidence in his game. The message from Carroll, particularly in training camp, boiled down to: Thompson produces in practice, sees things so well, but he isn’t reacting accordingly. That idea of reacting slowly showed up in games, as time and time again his game speed appeared to be deficient. Whether that’s a matter of confidence in anticipating and reacting to the ball, or simply a shortcoming in his athletic ability, is an important question to answer. If it’s the former Marquise Blair Seattle Seahawks Jersey , perhaps Thompson can become a reliable free safety in Carroll’s defense. If it’s the latter, it really is a fatal flaw in this scheme. By now, we know a large part of what makes Thomas one of the greatest safeties, ever, is his out-of-this-world range. That stems from uncanny anticipation, but it’s aided by his athletic ability. Prior to the 2010 NFL Draft, Thomas ran a 4.37 40-yard dash, with a 1.49 10-yard split. Thompson, meanwhile, ran a 4.6 40-yard dash with a 1.63 10-yard split prior to the 2017 NFL Draft. That tiny difference in burst of .14 seconds can make all the difference when needing to move from the middle of the field all the way to the sideline, with the ball mid-flight. If Thompson doesn’t possess the range to be a true centerfielder in Carroll’s defense, then he cannot be depended upon to play that spot for 16 games in 2019. It would be a betrayal to both the scheme and the roster; the defense has collapsed before without the correct player at free safety, and it will again. Unfortunately for Seattle, they’re in a position where they may have to roll with Thompson in 2019, regardless of whether his previous struggles come down to confidence or a lack of athletic ability. For as loaded as the draft is along the defensive line, it’s quite shallow at safety. In the top-60 or so, an argument could be made for two proper rangy free safeties: Delaware’s Nasir Adderley and Alabama’s Deionte Thompson. However, both players have flaws in their games that could cross them off the list. Adderley is a slight 195 pounds—their threshold is 205 Rasheem Green Jersey , and here’s what Carroll had to say about Thompson’s body type prior to the 2018 season: “He’s 208 pounds right now, same weight as guys we’ve had play there in the past.” Adderley is the best safety in the draft, but he isn’t the best safety for this defense. Meanwhile, Deionte Thompson’s awareness and anticipation is lacking—would it make sense to spend a top-50 selection on a player whose shortcomings are similar to the player he would be replacing in Tedric Thompson? The options aren’t much better in free agency, either. The safeties headlining the class—Landon Collins, Tyrann Mathieu, Lamarcus Joyner—are more of box safeties than deep-middle roaming defenders. Judging by all of their actions up to this point, we know Seattle was quite sure they weren’t going to extend Thomas as early as last offseason. We also know the Cowboys were/are interested in Thomas. The best free safety in last year’s draft, Jessie Bates, is a legitimate centerfielder and would’ve fit into Carroll’s defense wonderfully. The Seahawks could’ve, and likely should’ve, moved on and used the extra selection last year to select Thomas’s successor. Instead, Seattle’s hands are tied, and their defense is tied to the development of Tedric Thompson and a trait he simply may or may not possess.

NEW YORK (AP) — Coming off three straight losses Andrew Ladd Jersey , the New York Islanders fell behind early. They took the lead with two quick goals and then pulled away in the third period for a confidence-building win.Tom Kuhnhackl scored two unusual goals to lead the Islanders to a 5-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night.“We definitely didn’t have the start we wanted,” Kuhnhackl said. “After they scored that first goal we had a great response throughout that first period. We knew they were going to have a push in the second period. We just had to weather the storm.”Jordan Eberle had a goal and an assist, and Josh Bailey and Cal Clutterbuck also scored for the Islanders, who had won five straight before their losing streak. Mathew Barzal and Brock Nelson each had two assists and Thomas Greiss stopped 22 shots.“Just because it’s not April doesn’t mean it’s not a must-win,” Clutterbuck said. “You don’t want to give a five-game winning streak back. We knew today we had to dig in and win it.”New York improved to 5-0-2 in the last seven meetings with Vancouver.Brendan Leipsic had a goal and an assist, and Jake Virtanen also scored for the Canucks, who have lost two straight after a 4-0-2 stretch. Jacob Markstrom, starting for the ninth consecutive game with Anders Nilsson injured, finished with 29 saves.Vancouver, coming off a 2-1 loss across town against the Rangers on Monday night, fell to 1-2-2 on a six-game trip.“This was deflating,” Canucks coach Travis Green said. “It was one of those nights. I like how we battled back. But down two on the road, you can be a little tired. It was a disappointing loss.”Kuhnhackl got his second of the game at 3:26 of the third period as Eberle’s pass from the right corner deflected off Kuhnhackl’s stick, a Vancouver defenseman’s stick, and then Kuhnhackl’s skate and in to push the Islanders’ lead to 4-2. The goal stood after a video review, giving Kuhnhackl his first career multi-goal game.Clutterbuck scored a power-play goal with 2:54 left, the Islanders’ first in four games with the man-advantage. It was also Clutterbuck’s first goal since Jan. 13 against the Rangers.“It’s been a while Anthony Beauvillier Jersey ,” he said. “The worst thing is there’s a lot of self-doubt that creeps in. Ten games, 15 games is one thing, but when it’s that long you begin to doubt your own ability. … It’s a big relief.”Trailing 3-1 after one period, the Canucks pulled within one on a power-play goal early in the second as Virtanen knocked in a rebound in front for his eighth of the season at 2:51.Leipsic got the Canucks on the scoreboard first, taking a pass from Michael Del Zotto at the bottom of the left circle and beating Greiss up high for his second of the season 2:48 into the game. The Islanders went ahead with two goals 45 seconds apart. Kuhnhackl tied it on a delayed penalty on Vancouver as he swiped a backhander from his knees while falling down below the left circle, and the puck managed to sneak in between Markstrom’s right pad and the post at 5:11.“I tried to spin away from the defenseman, and I thought I got tripped and they got a penalty,” Kuhnhackl said, “so I just tried to throw it on net and I was fortunate enough the puck went in.”New York went ahead when Bailey tried to send a pass across to Anders Lee at the right side of the net, but the puck deflected off the skate of Vancouver defenseman Christopher Tanev and in at 5:56. WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) Down 3-0 after a disastrous opening 20 minutes, there was no flipping of tables or peeling of paint off the walls in the Winnipeg Jets‘ locker room. They instead spent the first intermission calmly trying to figure a way out of that deficit.”We got kicked in the teeth a little bit,” Jets captain Blake Wheeler said. ”Our goal was just to win the second period and give ourselves a chance.”They did that Authentic Brock Nelson Jersey , and a whole lot more.Wheeler scored on the power play with 4:59 left after Winnipeg roared back from that early deficit to defeat the Nashville Predators 7-4 on Tuesday night and grab a 2-1 lead in their second-round playoff series.”It’s definitely not how you draw up a first period, but nobody panicked,” said Jets defenseman Jacob Trouba, who finished with a goal and an assist.”We just regrouped. It wasn’t really any different in here than if it was a tie game or if we were winning.”We just went out there and played a little bit faster and played with a little bit more confidence.”Dustin Byfuglien had two goals and an assist for Winnipeg, and Paul Stastny added a goal and two assists.Wheeler, who also had an assist, scored the first of two empty-net goals in the final minute, with Brandon Tanev getting the other.Mark Scheifele added two assists to become the first player since Sidney Crosby in 2010 to have five consecutive multi-point games in a postseason. Connor Hellebuyck made 26 stops.Filip Forsberg and P.K. Subban each had a goal and an assist for Nashville, while Mike Fisher and Austin Watson also scored. Mattias Ekholm and Ryan Johansen both added two assists for the Predators, who got 38 saves from Pekka Rinne.”We just stopped playing,” Nashville defenseman Ryan Ellis said. ”You can’t win hockey when you stop playing.”Johansen said the Predators stopped skating after blowing the lead.”We stopped moving our legs,” Johansen said. ”We did a lot of things poorly and they got better. Momentum swings in playoffs, they can be deadly.”Game 4 is Thursday night in Winnipeg before things shift back to Nashville for Game 5 on Saturday. After the Predators surged ahead on goals by Fisher, Subban and Watson in the first period, the Jets roared out of the gate in the second to tie it during a frantic three-minute stretch.Stastny got the comeback started at 2:38 when Trouba’s bouncing shot from the point struck his skate in front and ricocheted in off the crossbar and straight out.The veteran center raised his arms in celebration, but play continued for a few seconds before officials blew the sequence dead to check if the puck crossed the line.Wheeler then missed a wide-open net after Rinne’s turnover before getting cleaned out by Watson along the boards.Scheifele came to Wheeler’s defense to nullify what would have been a Winnipeg power play, but the Jets seemed to get a boost from the exchange and made it 3-2 when Byfuglien blasted his second of the playoffs past Rinne at 5:11.Then with the teams still playing 4-on-4 Cal Clutterbuck Jersey , Trouba took a slick pass from Wheeler just 18 seconds later to send the white-clad crowd Bell MTS Place into its third frenzy in quick succession with his second of the postseason.”That was chaos,” Stastny said.Winnipeg imposed its physical will as the period wore on, hitting Nashville’s defense at every opportunity, and the pressure finally paid off with 45 seconds remaining when Patrik Laine passed to Byfuglien for his second of the game. The big defenseman celebrated by removing a glove and dancing – a far cry from the playful punches he threw at teammates after Winnipeg tied Game 2 late in regulation.”You guys only see him on the ice,” Trouba said. ”I see him dance all the time.”But Nashville punched back to even the score 4-4 at 7:40 of the third when Forsberg wheeled across the top of the slot on the power play to beat Hellebuyck with his fifth goal of the postseason shortly after Laine hit the post.Trouba then turned the puck over at the offensive blue line to send Viktor Arvidsson in alone on a breakaway, but Hellebuyck was there with a big glove stop.Winnipeg got its third man advantage of the third with 5:59 remaining when Subban went off for high-sticking after failing to clear the puck twice late in a previous Jets power play. Wheeler scored the winner from a tight angle after Rinne stopped Scheifele from the slot.”Our fans are huge. It’s real, too,” Wheeler said. ”Our crowd noise is from the crowd. It’s not from speakers or music or live bands or whatever.”That’s people making noise and that goes right through your body.”Winnipeg’s Kyle Connor missed on a breakaway that would have sealed it on another man advantage before Nick Bonino hit the post at the other end for Nashville.Wheeler and Tanev then sealed it into an empty net in the final minute. The Jets opened the series with a 4-1 win in Nashville before the Predators picked up a 5-4 double overtime victory in Game 2.The Predators silenced Winnipeg’s fans just 4:53 in Tuesday when Fisher poked a loose puck over the goal line for his first of the playoffs after Hellebuyck couldn’t squeeze Ryan Hartman’s tip of Ekholm’s shot from the sideboards.Wheeler then took an offensive zone tripping penalty, and the Predators capitalized when Subban scored his second of the playoffs, and second in as many games, through Hellebuyck’s legs at 10:06.Watson made it 3-0 with 2:25 left when he took advantage of an awkward Winnipeg change and sniped a shot in off the post for his fifth.Fisher almost added to it late in the period, but his backhand hit the post behind Hellebuyck.”It’s not easy to come back after what we did in the first,” Byfuglien said. ”Everyone just knows you can’t quit – never quit.”Just keep working, you never know what’s going to happen.”—

COLUMBUS www.officialislanders.com , Ohio — The Toronto Maple Leafs carry a four-game winning streak into Nationwide Arena on Friday night to face a team that’s even hotter. The Columbus Blue Jackets (22-12-3) returned from the Christmas break on Thursday night with their fifth consecutive victory, a 4-3 win over the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden on Pierre-Luc Dubois‘ goal 31 seconds into overtime. The Maple Leafs (25-10-2) will be the more rested team, playing their first game since the layoff, but coach Mike Babcock said afterpractice on Thursday in Toronto that he doesn’t think that’s necessarily an advantage.Article continues below ...“It concerns me a little bit that Columbus is playing just from the fact that if you watched this practice you know we’re a little bit rusty to say the least,” Babcock said. “But we’ll be better tomorrow and get ready for them.”Maple Leafs defenseman Morgan Rielly liked being able to have a practice before a game.“I think we should all be fresh and ready to go,” he said “We’ve got some big games coming up here. … It works to our advantage to have a practice today and play tomorrow.”The Maple Leafs kept their winning streak intact on Sunday with a 5-4 overtime victory over the Detroit Red Wings. John Tavares scored the tying goal in the final seconds of the third period and Kasperi Kapanen the winner in overtime.Tavares leads the Maple Leafs with 24 goals in his first season with the club and Mitchell Marner has a team-best 38 assists and 50 points.Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews was named this week in fan voting as the captain of the Atlantic Division team for the NHL All-Star game next month.“To be selected is a huge honor and to be the captain of a division is pretty special,” Matthews said. The 21-year-old Matthews has accumulated 19 goals and 34 points in 23 games this season.“It’s exciting for our franchise,” Babcock said. “Obviously, he’s a good player and it’s a real compliment for him from the fans.”The Maple Leafs are running into one of the hottest goaltenders in the league. Columbus’ Sergei Bobrovsky was honored as the NHL’s First Star of the Week. Bobrovsky was given the first night of the Blue Jackets’ back-to-back off on Thursday after posting a 5-0-1 record with two shutouts in six straight starts. He made 34 and 39 saves in his last two games. “He’s playing at the top of his game New York Islanders T-Shirts Authentic , really, with a lot of confidence and he gives us a lot of confidence and keeps us calm on the bench,” Blue Jackets winger Cam Atkinson said. “We expect him to make those saves, and it’s amazing what he does for morale and then our team on the ice and the bench. He picks us up when we need him.” Although the Blue Jackets keep winning, coach John Tortorella was not particularly impressed with the how the team played last weekend at Philadelphia and New Jersey in victories.“I thought we sucked in both games,” he said. “It’s time to get back to work. It’s simple. You had your break. Christmas is over. It’s a National Hockey League season. I hope we play better after the break.”Besides Bobrovsky, Atkinson has provided a significantcontribution for the Blue Jackets with four goals in the last four games and 23 for the season.“He’s one of the top players in this league,” Tortorella said. “I think we feels that.”Against the Rangers, the Blue Jackets let an early lead slip away before defenseman Zach Werenski scored the tying goal with 2:20 left in the third period and then Dubois ended it. “You’ve got to find a way to get points and that’s what we’ve been doing New York Islanders Hoodies Authentic ,” Werenski said. “It’s crunch time now. These are huge points. Every game matters.” PITTSBURGH (AP) — Bryan Rust has no explanation for his career-best scoring run. He just wants to keep playing the same way.Rust scored two more goals to help the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Minnesota Wild 2-1 on Thursday night.“Sometimes that’s how hockey goes,” Rust said. “It just wants to make me shoot the puck more, I guess.”Rust has at least one goal in five of his last six games, including the game-winner in Wednesday night’s 2-1 victory over the defending Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals on the road.He has eight goals and nine points in his last six games after collecting one goal and seven points in his first 29 games.“It’s going in for him and we’re thrilled for him,” Penguins coach Mike Sullivan said. “I think he’s confident now and I think he has a little bit of pressure off of him. It’s not like he wasn’t getting scoring chances in the first part of the season. He was. The puck just didn’t seem to go in the net for him and now it is.”Rust put Pittsburgh ahead to stay when he scored his ninth of the season 8:12 into the third period.Pittsburgh’s Jake Guentzel picked off a Greg Pateryn pass behind the net, and centered to the slot where Rust slipped a shot between Devan Dubnyk’s pads.Pittsburgh has won four of five games and seven of 10 overall. The Penguins have earned points in eight of their last 10 games and 13 of the last 17 following a difficult November run in which they won just one of 10 games.“It’s nice to string a few wins in a row against some pretty good teams,” Sullivan said. “Every point we get in the standings is important and we’re slowly but surely climbing. We’re becoming harder to play against.”Casey DeSmith stopped 40 shots for his eighth win in 12 home starts. DeSmith has started nine of the last 11 games for Pittsburgh.Jordan Greenway scored his sixth for the Wild, who have dropped three straight and five of seven. Dubnyk made 35 saves.“It’s disappointing,” Dubnyk said. “We were in a really good spot going into the third period New York Islanders Hats Authentic , and playing good hockey. So you want to find a way to win those games.”Greenway opened the scoring 7:13 into the first when he converted a wrist shot from inside the left circle. But Rust answered for Pittsburgh, extending his goal streak to a career-best four games.Dubnyk left his crease, but misplayed a puck behind the net to Guentzel, who quickly centered to Rust for the goal into an empty net.“The first one, it doesn’t get much easier than that, and the second one, I came screaming down the middle and (Guentzel) found me,” Rust said.NOTES: Dominik Simon returned to the Penguins’ lineup after missing eight games with a lower-body injury. Garrett Wilson was sent to the team’s minor league affiliate in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. … Wild D Matt Dumba missed his second straight game with an upper-body injury. … Penguins D Jamie Oleksiak was sidelined by a concussion. … Pateryn played in his 200th career game.UP NEXTWild: Host Dallas on Saturday.Penguins: Visit Carolina on Saturday.

SAN JOSE Kevin Shattenkirk Jersey , Calif. (AP) Sergei Bobrovsky and Artemi Panarin made sure the Columbus Blue Jackets didn’t blow another lead and got to head home from the California swing on a winning note.Artemi Panarin scored two goals, including an empty-netter to seal the win, and Bobrovsky made 34 saves to thwart a comeback attempt by San Jose as the Blue Jackets beat the Sharks 4-2 on Sunday night.”We found a way to get it done,” captain Nick Foligno said. ”That’s what we need to do this time of year. I hope guys feel good about themselves that they can win these tight ones and it has to carry on to the next 16 games.”Foligno and Sonny Milano got Columbus started with first-period goals to help the Blue Jackets salvage the final game of their three-game trip to remain a point ahead of Florida for the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference. The Blue Jackets had scored first in Los Angeles and Anaheim to start this trip before losing both games. They nearly blew a 3-0 lead against the Sharks but Bobrovsky made a sliding save on a deflection by Joe Pavelski to keep it 3-2 and Panarin scored his 20th goal into the empty net to seal the win.”They’re a tough team because they’re so many deflections around the goal,” coach John Tortorella said. ”The save Bob makes on Joe Pavelski. That’s a set play with him and (Brent) Burns. They’ve played together for so long. They’re tough to stop.”Evander Kane scored his first goal since joining the Sharks and Joonas Donskoi also scored but San Jose was unable to erase a three-goal deficit.Martin Jones allowed three goals on 11 shots before being pulled early in the second period and the Sharks went a 12th straight game without a power-play goal, extending their drought to 28 chances.”Sometimes you have to give the goalie on the other team some credit,” Sharks coach Peter DeBoer said. ”We generated some really quality chances on the power play and sometimes we missed the net and he made some really good saves.”The Sharks fell behind 3-0 early in the second when Panarin deflected Ian Cole’s point shot into the net to end Jones’ night. The Blue Jackets limited San Jose’s chances after that as they kept control of the game until a broken play late in the second gave the Sharks life.Kane’s pass was deflected right to Dylan DeMelo at the point. DeMelo fired the puck toward the net and Donskoi deflected it past Bobrovsky to make it 3-1.Kane then scored midway through the third http://www.officialhockeyrangersshop.com/authentic-adidas-marc-staal-jersey , giving him five points in three games with San Jose. But the Sharks were unable to get the equalizer against Bobrovsky.”You get down by three goals, it’s tough to come back,” Kane said. ”We came up a little short. Late in the second period we started breaking down their defense and getting pucks to the net. We need to start doing that earlier.”The Blue Jackets bounced back from losses at Los Angeles and Anaheim by getting off to a fast start in San Jose despite being short-handed for six minutes in the opening period. The Sharks failed to convert any of those chances into goals with Bobrovsky’s glove save on a deflection by Pavelski the best chance as their power-play drought extended to 27.Columbus then scored seconds after the first penalty ended with Foligno beating Jones with a wrist shot to make it 1-0.The Blue Jackets added another goal less than a minute after killing a third penalty when Marc-Edouard Vlasic misplayed the puck at the blue line and Boone Jenner fed Milano on the 2-on-1 for the goal.NOTES: Aaron Dell stopped all 16 shots he faced in place of Jones. … Sharks C Eric Fehr returned to the lineup after missing one game and Marcus Sorensen was scratched. … Blue Jackets C Alexander Wennberg also returned after missing one game in place of Lukas Sedlak.UP NEXTBlue Jackets: Host Vegas on Tuesday night.Sharks: Host St. Louis on Thursday night.— Carolina Hurricanes (43-29-7, fifth in the Metropolitan Division) vs. Toronto Maple Leafs (46-26-7, third in the Atlantic Division)Toronto; Tuesday, 7:30 p.m. EDTBOTTOM LINE: Toronto faces Carolina in Eastern Conference action. The Maple Leafs are 23-14-2 at home. Rebilas-USA TODAY SportsPaul Kuharsky is reporting that the Titans are releasing Josh Kline:The move saves the team $3.25 million against the salary cap.Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that the Titans offered Kline a pay cut but he declined:It probably would have been a good idea for Kline to take that pay cut because it is hard to see him getting signed on anywhere else. Now the Titans have a starting spot on the offensive line to fill. There doesn’t appear to be anything going on with Quinton Spain, so it seems that the Titans will have 2 new starting guards when the 2019 season opens. We know that one of them will be Rodger Saffold. We don’t yet know who the other will be.I assume we will see another move in free agency, but if we don’t you have to move iOL to the top of the needs list. That’s probably a very real possibility at this point. The Titans handed the Patriots an emphatic beating on Sunday in a 34-10 victory that led linebacker Rashaan Evans to say that the team “took it to the next level.”It’s the Titans’ second win over a team from last year’s Super Bowl and one of Evans’ defensive teammates wants to be sure that the team stays on that level this time. Safety Kevin Byard pointed to what happened after the Titans beat the Eagles to move to 3-1 in late September as a cautionary tale for the team.“A win like this, it says we are on the playoff hunt,” Byard said LeShaun Sims Jersey , via the team’s website. “It just shows that when we play our ball and do what we need to do, and focus on us and nobody else, we can beat anybody in the NFL. But the last time we started feeling ourselves, we lost three straight games. So we can鈥檛 get caught up in the excitement. Every week it鈥檚 a different challenge.”The Titans went from 3-1 to 3-4 after that win over the Eagles and scored just 31 points over the course of those three games. A similar letdown against the Colts and Texans the next two weeks would deal a heavy blow to Tennessee’s chances of returning to the playoffs this season.

Instead of some bold predictions Jamel Dean Jersey , the Bucs need a bold win against the Browns. The Bucs have played some pretty bad football over the last three games, but if they are able to pull these off, it will be the remedy they need to get back to their winning ways of 2018. 1. The Buccaneers have their best defensive performance of the season. (Alex)Call me crazy, but I think the Buccaneers defense dominates this game from start to finish. When people get fired, eyes begin to open and the players now know they are playing for their jobs for the rest of the season. You can’t continue to fire coaches. Eventually, it has to come back to the players and the firing of Mike Smith will shine a light on who isn’t producing as a player.I dont’ expect a shutout. Hell, the Browns will probably rattle off a couple of touchdowns. But I do expect a defense that flies to the ball and forces turnovers. Do I dare say I expect a defensive touchdown as well?Well, maybe im a little to bold with that last part, but I’m confident in Duffner to employ a physical type of defense this weekend. Bucs BOLD defensive stat predictions: 2 INT, 4 Sacks, 1 FF2. Peyton Barber goes over 100+ yards on the ground and scores a touchdown in consecutive weeks. (Alex)The Cleveland Browns have a young and improving defense, but they are ranked 29th in the league in defending the run, allowing an average of 138.2 YPG on the ground. Peyton Barber is coming off of his best game of the season in which he ran for 82 yards on just 13 carries. The Buccaneers need to do everything they can to keep their defense off the field and I think establishing the run is going to be a huge part of the game plan come Sunday. Barber finds his groove and goes for 115 and a touchdown on 20+ carries. 3. Duke Johnson Jr. leads the team in yards from scrimmage. (Evan)Tampa Bay is pretty good against the run, but they are really bad against pass-catching backs. Through five games, the Bucs have allowed opposing backs to record a 31/333/2 line when it comes to catching balls out of the backfield. This includes two 100-yard performances by Alvin Kamara and Tarik Cohen.Referring to the latter, the Bears were more than comfortable playing Cohen - a backup - over their own starter in Jordan Howard based off of the matchup. It paid dividends as the Bears dismantled the Bucs in Chicago. I expect Cleveland to do the exact same with Johnson Jr. this week. Even if Carlos Hyde were still around Jamel Dean Tampa Bay Buccaneers Jersey , this feels like a DJJ game and I think he (DJJ) still would’ve seen more action. This prediction may come as a surprise considering how poorly the Bucs’ secondary has performed, but the defense as a whole has been terrible all season long. Todd Haley is no slouch as an offensive coordinator and he will exploit this Tampa Bay weakness this weekend. 4. Kwon Alexander has multiple sacks. (Evan)Kwon has recorded just one sack in the last 22 games. Whether it be scheme, injury, or just ineffectiveness, it’s an alarming stat for a player that took down the quarterback six times in his first 23 games. That will change this weekend against the Browns.First off, with linebackers coach Mark Duffner taking over the defense, he knows what he has in Lavonte David and Alexander. He knows that both players are extremely athletic and can sack the quarterback. Secondly, with Gerald McCoy and Vinny Curry already ruled out, the Bucs will have to find a pass rush somewhere other than the defensive line. Third, the Browns may be without their starting center which would make it harder to identify potential blitzers.Alexander also hasn’t been the beacon of consistency in 2018. It would be a major confidence booster - not that he really needs it - to have him come out and fly around in his first game with Duffner as DC.Want another stat that makes this an even bolder prediction? Alexander has never recorded multiple sacks in a game during his entire career.5. Chris Godwin catches two touchdowns. (Evan)All eyes - mainly Denzel Ward’s - will be on Mike Evans, which should leave plenty of room for Godwin to operate underneath. The good thing about Godwin, however, is that he can make plays all over the field. He can beat you on all types of routes. The Bucs will take advantage of the Browns’ aggressive defense this week by utilizing quick passes to Godwin and DeSean Jackson. Tampa Bay should be able to move the ball, which plays right into Godwin’s hands. This is because all four of his touchdown receptions have come inside the 10-yard line. He is becoming a major red zone threat with each passing week and that will culminate in a two-touchdown performance on Sunday. It would be the first time in his career catching multiple scores. For the Bucs’ sake, let’s hope that happens. Jacksonville Jaguars All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey was unusually quiet Thursday, three days before one of the most anticipated matchups of his NFL career. He was humble. He was focused. He was more of a team player than a look-at-me guy.He seemed somewhat out of character. But the Jaguars probably liked it after weeks of unrest surrounding their star defensive back.Ramsey screamed profanities at media members during training camp Youth Jamel Dean Jersey , got suspended for a week and then created a stir by calling out several quarterbacks in one interview and blasted a few more players in another .With the season opener against the New York Giants and receiver standout Odell Beckham Jr. looming, Ramsey clammed up."Looking forward to it," said Ramsey, who was added to the injury report because of ankle soreness. "Looking forward to beginning the whole season with the whole team. A lot of people are going to try to make it about me and (Beckham) specifically. That's not what it's about. Football is a team game. There's going to be 11 guys out there for us, 11 guys out there for them. We're going to have to come together and do what we've got to do to try to get a win."It wasn't what anyone expected from the outspoken Ramsey.Beckham insisted Wednesday that Ramsey won't get under his skin and there won't be a repeat of his fight with cornerback Josh Norman in 2016. The three-time All-Pro said he won't take Ramsey's bait.Asked whether that's easier said than done, Ramsey declined to offer much."I don't know," he said. "Again, it's not about me. It's about the team."Ramsey downplayed his ability to talk trash, even though he got into a public spat with now-retired NFL receiver Steve Smith in 2016 and upset Cincinnati receiver A.J. Green so much that Green grabbed Ramsey around the neck and slammed him to the ground last year."My play is what really gets people talking, to be honest with you, and that's just extra on top," Ramsey said. "I'm going to be me. I don't think that's something that we need to continue to talk about week in and week in. I'm going to me."Ramsey did acknowledge that he's fine with playing the role of villain."What people who don't know me think about me doesn't affect me, how I live my life, how I go about being who I am," said Ramsey, who became a father for the first time in late July. "I'm not going to change because somebody doesn't like me. There's a bunch or more people in the world."Many of them will tune in Sunday to watch Ramsey line up across from Beckham Jamel Dean Tampa Bay Buccaneers Jersey , who signed a $95 million extension that made him the highest-paid receiver in the league."I think anytime you get two guys like that, that are as big of stars as they are, everybody wants to watch it," Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles said. "We'll get our corrections made (on the sideline) and make sure everything's set offensively for the next series and peek up there as much as possible to see what's going on with them. I know they'll both be ready and fired up. It'll be fun to watch."Ramsey surely will have a different demeanor once the game starts. And if he shuts down Beckham, he probably will be even more boisterous. After all, this is the same guy who made it clear two weeks ago that he was "unapologetic" about anything he said about other NFL players. He also opened camp talking about facing Beckham in the opener."Let's get this out the way right now," Ramsey said in late July after reporting to camp a few days late . "He is a good receiver. We all know that. But you all know me at the same time. Yeah, he's good. But I'm good, too. If you want to say he's the best at his position, I'm the best at my position, so we are going to go at it. We are going to give the people a show the first game of the season."He is going to have some wins. I am going to have some wins. I just plan on having more wins. That is the plan I am going to go in there with. ... That is what you all asked for as fans of the game, as (fans of) the NFL, everybody. That is what you all asked for. We are going to give it to you, for sure. I know I am."

The Chiefs are on fire right now, thanks primarily to Patrick Mahomes and his host of weapons. The game is set to kickoff at 10:00 a.m. PT on FOX. Defensive coordinator Robert Saleh is meeting with the media at 12:40 p.m., and he will be followed by cornerback Richard Sherman. Sherman has spoken to the media the past couple weeks, but this is the first time it’s been mentioned in the media availability release. He spoke regularly in Seattle during game weeks, so this is not surprising. They will be followed by locker room availability from 12:45 to 1:30 p.m. The team hits the practice field at 1:50 p.m. Practice is open to the media until team drills begin, and we’ll get a practice participation report following the session. The 49ers will stream the press conferences Twitter, Facebook, and the team’s app. The 49ers beat writers will also have updates from the media sessions. I’ve embedded our beat writer Twitter list so you can follow along. We’ll have transcripts later today.A Twitter List by NinersNation Well I think we all saw a loss coming, but not like that. The San Francisco 49ers are a team leveled by injuries and Womens Alfred Morris Jersey , of course, got a few more to take with them out of the game in their loss to the Los Angeles Rams. The 49ers failed in all phases. There was a brief moment George Kittle’s touchdown to end the first half may have lit a spark to ignite the stagnant offense, but when C.J. Beathard got sacked on their opening series to start the second half, you knew it meant nothing. I said the 49ers would win if they could buy Beathard enough time to throw the ball, which meant establishing solid run game. Well, that did not happen. There were spurts of a run game, but it never was as established as one would like. And the turnovers when throwing the ball didn’t help either.I said they would lose if they couldn’t get the running game going and keep Jared Goff off the field, but I didn’t think it was necessary to say if they had the turnovers they had, there was no helping them. The 49ers would have won if...If they could play football. If the defense could have stepped things up Matt Breida Jersey , it may have made a difference. Four turnovers isn’t helping the defense at all, but not even counting the injuries, the defense looked inept. Richard Sherman and Jimmie Ward were both out to start. K’Waun Williams was knocked out for a spell. Adrian Colbert got taken out of the game. Reuben Foster got clocked. Towards the end of the game, it was just dial-a-injury to that defense. All that rotation with the second stringers does not help either. Let’s not forget the fact that the 49ers have failed at executing a sound defensive gameplan. It’s not that the 49ers lost, it’s how they lost. Their improving offensive line had a chance to make a statement given all the praise they had and instead realized they were the 49ers offensive line. C.J. Beathard had some ill advised throws, but there were some pressures given up. Had the line held it together for some crucial run blocks, maybe this game gets a bit more competitive. The 49ers lost because...Turnovers. You aren’t winning a game with four turnovers, especially if your roster is the level of talent of the 49ers. If you’re a team strapped for talent like the 49ers, you need to play perfect football to get out of any game Womens Terrell Owens Jersey , and the 49ers not only turned the ball over, but on the 50-yard line. It doesn’t help when the 49ers fail at getting turnovers of their own, but that’s what good teams do—they don’t turn the ball over. But as I said, I don’t think a win was possible. The Rams are a better team, better coached (for this game anyways), and have a better scheme. The 49ers just were not winning this one. Not when they have UDFAs coming in for the sole reason starters are down. But again, the turnovers need to change. It’s sloppy and atrocious football that makes people not want to watch. I don’t mind seeing the 49ers get dominated, but not like this.
